The iconic Mill Avenue is the best place to eat, drink and hang out with the locals. Downtown Tempe is well-known for its abundance of locally owned restaurants and bars. Stop by Postino Annex to nosh on some bruschetta with a glass of wine on their beautiful outdoor patio or stroll next door to Snooze for some of the best pancakes in town. Over on Mill Avenue, you can head straight for La Bocca Urban Kitchen & Wine Bar to enjoy their daily happy hour or walk across the street to The Handlebar Tempe where their friendly staff will happily assist you in finding a new favorite beer. The newly renovated Pedal Haus Brewery has the biggest outdoor patio in Downtown Tempe with incredible food (we recommend you try their Bavarian Pretzel) and home brewed beer.
Once you’re done, head north up Mill Avenue to the iconic Tempe Town Lake. Here, you can enjoy five miles of shoreline to walk, run, bike, roller blade, skip, tip toe and jump around. You can rent bicycles at Tempe Boat Rentals, located on the south side of the lake. Stop over and see the Tempe Center for the Arts while you’re in the area. They have a free art gallery inside that has great exhibitions featuring local artists. You can also catch a concert, comedy show or theater production here too.
Every Sunday through May, you can find the 6th Street Market in Downtown Tempe. Located in the popular 6th Street Park, this new market will showcase works of art, live music, brunch offers, and interactive art projects.
Thursday is the new Friday in Downtown Tempe at Beyond the Bricks|Thursday Night Live. This free event has live music, a beer garden and food from two favorite Tempe eateries, Blasted Barley Beer Company or Bacus Bros. Hot Dogs.
