Park the car and take a leisurely stroll down iconic Mill Avenue, where you can eat, drink and be merry with the locals. Located right next to the ASU Tempe Campus, downtown Tempe has brick sidewalks and a plethora of locally owned restaurants and bars. Stop by La Bocca Urban Pizzeria + Wine Bar to nosh on some bruschetta, walk across the street to Handlebar Tempe for a drink on their incredible outdoor patio or head over to NCounter, where you’ll quickly learn that healthy food does indeed taste great.
Once you’re done, burn off those calories with a quick hike up “A” Mountain or a jog around the very popular Tempe Town Lake, located on the north end of town. Tempe Town Lake is also a great place to rent a kayak, paddleboard and pedal boats and is home to a myriad of athletic events and festivals, including IRONMAN Arizona and Tempe Oktoberfest. Overlooking the lake is the visually striking Tempe Center for the Arts, where you can catch a concert, theatre production or an exhibit at the gallery.
