Tempe College Life

Yearning for the Tempe Arizona Nightlife of your College Years?

Ah, to be young again. You can't turn back the hands of time, but you can relive the good old days in Tempe and Arizona State University.

Navigating around and through campus is easy. Valley Metro offers a convenient free shuttle, the FLASH (Free Local Area Shuttle). Students use this to quickly move through campus and the Mill Avenue District, visiting Mill Ave restaurants and Tempe bars.

Begin your experience with an appetizing breakfast at delicious Mill Ave restaurants. Start your day off right with a bagel at Chompie's deli.

After a delicious breakfast at a Mill Ave restaurant, start your tour of Tempe. Take a self-guided walking tour through campus. See one of the country's best collections of public art, visit one of the numerous free museums and galleries, including the ASU Art Museum, which focuses on thought provoking contemporary art and new media.

For lunch, try one of the many budget friendly restaurants inside the Memorial Union, or walk to one of the many ethnic eateries or Tempe bars located just off campus, such as Phoenicia Café, Sahara or Dilly's Deli.

With the most pedestrian-friendly downtown area in the Phoenix metropolitan area, you can tour the Mill Avenue District without a car. There are more than 100 shops, Mill Ave restaurants, cafes and Tempe bars within 7 picturesque blocks. At the north end of Mill Avenue, a quick hike up "A" Mountain (look for the large yellow "A") offers a bird's eye view of the city and a sample of the beautiful Sonoran Desert landscape. If you're in town before the ASU Sun Devils take on their bitter rivals, the University of Arizona Wildcats, you can even help guard the "A" from being painted by the opposing team. Before the game, get in the spirit and join your fellow Sun Devils at a popular Tempe bar.

Depending on the season, you can cheer for the Sun Devils at one of the many popular athletic events. Or, watch a terrific student theater, dance or music performance. The Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts has a full calendar of events on campus.

And of course, college isn't college without an active nightlife. After dark, mill around on Mill Avenue to find the perfect place for dinner, dancing, listening to live music and meeting the locals at some of the hottest Mill Ave restaurants and Tempe bars.
