Making Strides Against Breast Cancer – October 22, 2016 – Tempe Beach Park
Every Making Strides event is a powerful and inspiring opportunity to unite as a community to honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness about what we can do to stay well from breast cancer, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease with breast cancer research, information and services, and access to mammograms for women who need them. Walk Now For Autism Speaks – October 26, 2016 – Tempe Beach Park
Join the Autism Speaks and the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) by walking to change the future for all who struggle with autism. This fundraising effort not only generates vital funds for autism research but also raises awareness about the increasing prevalence of autism and the need for increased research funding to combat this complex disorder. There is a 5K route as well as a 1 mile family fun route. Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:30 a.m.
Mountain Park Health Center Run Series – October 30, 2016 – Kiwanis Park
Be a part of Mountain Park Health Center’s first annual run in Tempe. This is an all around family affair, with strollers and pets welcome! Runners will enjoy a scenic view while giving support to a great cause. Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. and the walk/run begins at 8:00 a.m.
Walk to Save Animals – November 5, 2016 – Tempe Beach Park
Founded in 1971, Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA was the first no-kill shelter in Arizona. For the past 17 years, they have hosted the Walk to Save Animals to give everyone an opportunity to step up and step out to help homeless animals. Registration for this begins at 7:00 a.m. and the walk begins at 8:15 a.m.
Running of the Titans – November 12, 2016 – Pera Club
Come out and support the Chandler Preparatory Academy in their efforts to raise money for their senior trip to Washington D.C. Chandler Preparatory Academy believes that Washington D.C. enhances the focus of Western Civilization by providing them an opportunity to physically experience the cultural and political center of our part of the Western world. GirlsRunFast – November 20, 2016 – Kiwanis Park
This is the second annual GirlsRunFast women’s 5K run. This run is designed to inspire women of all ages to challenge themselves through physical activity. Sorry fellas, this is run is for women only! At the end of the race participants will have a chance to receive custom jewelry that is made to help women celebrate their achievements through unique and inspirational custom jewelry at affordable prices. Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. and the race begins at 8:00 a.m.
Thursday Adventure Fun Runs – Third Thursdays in October and November – Roadrunner Sports at Tempe Marketplace
Put some fun in your run! Thursday Adventure Runs are a great way to train for 5K, 10K and half marathon races. Participants run to fun checkpoints for free raffle tickets and try and accumulate as many tickets as possible in 60 minutes to win up to $1,000 in prizes and giveaways. After the fun run, runners and walkers enjoy après-party music, free beer and more. You can pre-register by 3 p.m. online or sign up in person at Roadrunner Sports from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The race is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the after party is from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
