Take a break and rent a boat at Tempe Town Lake

There’s never a better time than the present to get outside and enjoy Tempe Town Lake! The weather is warm, not too hot, and perfect for a lovely boating excursion on Tempe’s urban oasis in the desert, Tempe Town Lake.

Renting a boat at Tempe Town Lake is easy! Boat rentals are available through Tempe Boat Rentals. You’ll find their kiosk located on the south side of the lake at Tempe Beach Park. Boats of all types can be rented here, for any number of people. Watercraft options available to rent include kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, pontoon boats, pedal boats and electric boats.

My personal favorite is the stand-up paddleboard (SUP). I’m not very good, but you don’t have to be to enjoy it! Just willing to accept that you may look pretty wobbly for the first several minutes. I was super stiff at the beginning until I got more comfortable and started to relax. Then the real fun begins. I went pretty far for  being on the water for less than an hour. And what a workout! The cool lake water feels nice on your feet too, keeping you cool the whole time. Unless you fall in – then you will definitely keep cool! SUPs are $20/hour to rent.

The pontoon boat is a great option for a small group of people. This would be a fun and unique way to celebrate someone’s birthday or special event. Or maybe a wedding anniversary or just a fun get together with friends. It seats up to 10 people and is $80/hour to rent.
