ASU Art Exhibition: Saber Acomodar

Location: ASU Art Museum

Focusing on the last hundred years of production, this exhibition showcases collaborations between artists and artisans (potters, carpenters, blacksmiths, jewelers, sign painters and printmakers) who work and live in western Mexico. The result of theses intersections is the integration of contemporary ideas, precolonial techniques and methods introduced by the Spanish. Comprised of work by 25 artists, the majority of whom are from Guadalajara, this exhibition explores the integration of contemporary ideas with traditional techniques. The Good Making of Good Things: Craft Horizons Magazine 1941-79

Location:

During its nearly 40 years in print, Craft Horizons documented the craft movement as it happened. This exhibition pairs works from ASU Art Museum’s collection that were made by artists featured in the magazine with articles, reviews and letters from readers to illustrate the essential role of Craft Horizons played in the development of craft in the United States from 1941-1979. *Exhibition runs from March 24 through September 15.
