Tempe Jazz Day: From Gospel to Jazz Explosion Concert
April 8, 2023Event Summary
Did you know National Jazz Month is in April? Communities from all over the world will be learning about jazz history and celebrating with live concerts. Kick off Jazz Appreciation Month at Tempe Center for the Arts with Doc Jones and Friends on April 8, 2023.
International Jazz Day AZ Foundation is incredibly honored to again join forces with Tempe Mayor Corey Woods to present “From Gospel to Jazz Explosion Concert.” Enjoy a spectacular lineup featuring Stellar Award Winner Reggie Campbell, Smooth Jazz Billboard Artist saxophonist Neamen Lyles and special guest Guitar Center Runner-up drummer of the year Fred Boswell Jr., Kiara Jayne, Eloni Yawn, Tuena Marie and more.
Thanks to the International Jazz Day AZ Foundation’s (IJDAZ) Founder and Executive Director, Doc Jones, the State of Arizona passed HCR 2017 in 2019, declaring April “Jazz Appreciation Month” (JAM). Throughout the years, jazz has promoted peace, diversity and freedom of expression, thus reinforcing the role of today’s youth as active agents of social change.
