Some of the best athletes in the world will strive for their personal best during IRONMAN Arizona in Tempe, November 18, 2018. The event includes a 2.4 mile swim in Tempe Town Lake, a 112-mile bike ride that winds through Tempe and extends into the Sonoran Desert, followed by a 26.2 mile run around the lake and Papago Park.

IRONMAN Arizona Event Information

IRONMAN Arizona expo: Thursday, November 15-Saturday, November 17, 2018 – The expo is held each year at Tempe Beach Park, and is located on the south bank of Tempe Town Lake. Enjoy vendor booths with products and merchandise to help you win the big race.

IRONMAN Arizona race: The race will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018.

Spectator information: Not racing? Not a problem! Cheer on your friends, loved ones or just come to Downtown Tempe and enjoy the race day atmosphere. Spectators of all ages are welcome and encouraged to cheer on the athletes. View the IRONMAN Spectator Guide for all the details.

Things to Do in Tempe

Looking for something to do in Tempe while visiting for the race? We have no shortage of great restaurants, shopping and outdoor fun for the whole family. Enjoy a little retail therapy at Tempe Marketplace or Arizona Mills, go for a hike up “A” Mountain or head to South Mountain Park and Preserve. Enjoy 175 of dedicated bikeways found throughout the city as well. Saguaro Lake
Approximately 34 miles from Downtown Tempe
Named after the Saguaro Cactus, Saguaro Lake was formed in 1930 when the Stewart Mountain Dam was completed. With more than 22 miles of shoreline, Saguaro Lake is a popular destination for boating, camping and fishing. The Saguaro del Norte Recreation site is located near the dam and is where you can enjoy swimming and restroom facilities.

Canyon Lake
Approximately 40 miles from Downtown Tempe
This picturesque lake has a 28 mile cactus-dotted shoreline. Fauna such as sheep, deer and javelinas are also known to frequent the area. Visitors to Canyon Lake love to camp and fish here and boat rentals are available. Restroom facilities are available at the lake, where you can also enjoy swimming.
