Halloween 2023 is right around the corner, and spooky season is already in full effect throughout Tempe. Whether you’re looking for additional events to show off your costume or more opportunities for trick-or-treating, we have you covered.

October in Tempe is filled with festivities that invite you to level-up your Halloween season. Check out these activities for kids, gatherings for grown-ups and seasonal celebrations for the entire family.

Through Nov. 1: Four Peaks Haunted Brewery Tours

As seen on “Ghost Adventures,” Four Peaks Brewery invites you to experience its Haunted Brewery Tours, Sunday through Wednesday every week from Sept. 17 to Nov. 1. Since they moved into the old brick building that houses the original brewery, strange things have been happening inside it. Four Peaks has gathered all these spooky tales (as well as their own employees’ ghost stories) for a series of special, late-night tours through 8th Street. Join them for one, if you dare.

Join The Westin Tempe every Friday at 7 p.m. for Spooky Cinema. Complimentary popcorn will be provided, and the bar will be open. All ages are welcome with free admission.

Calling all goblins, ghosts and ghouls… get ready for a haunted Halloween bash at the annual Creepy Candy Crawl at Tempe Marketplace! Dress up in your spookiest and kookiest costumes to partake in contests, parade through The District, trick-or-treat from store to store, snap free photos and enjoy games, prizes and entertainment.

Oct. 26: The Mystery Mansion Dinner Theater
Canopy by Hilton Tempe Downtown | 108 E. University Dr., Tempe, AZ 85281

You’re invited to The Mystery Mansion Dinner Theatre, the longest running dinner theater in Arizona’s history. Join the crazy cast of characters for “Murder At The Vampire’s Wedding – A Bloody Good Time” and attempt to solve a murder while being subjected to murderous puns. All shows include a three-course dinner served to you by the suspects. 

Prizes are awarded throughout the evening as incentives for audience participation with a grand prize at the end of the 2-hour show.

Enjoy a seasonal art adventure with Free Art Friday: Pumpkin Patch. Experience pumpkin fun at every turn! Engage all five senses with a bountiful harvest of free, fall-themed activities for you and your little ones. Sip wonder-fall coffee from Eis Cafe while making a scarecrow headband, leave your worries behind with music by Haley Green and Emily Bruso or pick a gourd-geous face painting design.

Oct. 27: Movies in the Park & Tempe’s Family Boo Bash

Movies in the Park is back for the fall! Grab the gang, your blankets and a picnic dinner, and head to Kiwanis Park to watch E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (PG) and Boo Bash! on Oct. 27.

Come early to reserve your spot and enjoy Tempe’s Family Boo Bash, which includes train rides, face painting, dance party, a costume contest and parade, food concessions and carnival games.

Movies in the Park begin at approximately 7 p.m. on the north soccer field (Baseline Road and Ash Avenue).

Oct. 27 & 28: Strange Garden at Desert Botanical Garden

Join the Desert Botanical Garden at Strange Garden, Oct. 27 & 28, for a night full of frights for the entire family. Experience jaw-dropping performances and encounter mad botanists, peculiar plants and creepy crawlies of the desert. Stop for a photo-op and take home a free pumpkin from their patch!

Oct. 29: Halloween Stroll
Ragsdale-MLK Park (formerly 6th Street Park)

Ghosts, goblins, and princesses of all ages are invited to Ragsdale-MLK Park in Downtown Tempe from 2 to 5 p.m. for some not-so-spooky Halloween fun at the Halloween Stroll. Trick-or-treat with downtown businesses and participate in Halloween-themed games, crafts, activities and a costume contest. Don’t forget your trick-or-treat bag! Halloween Stroll is a free-admission event.

Visit Tempe’s spine tingling Halloween haunts

If you’re looking for a little spooky action and goose-bumpy fun this Halloween, you might visit Tempe’s spine tingling Halloween haunts. Tempe was settled in the second half of the 1800s. Some of the old buildings are still used by businesses, and a few purportedly have permanent residents who, though long dead, make an occasional ghostly appearance.
