Music & Performing Arts Venues

Tempe is alive with live music that includes every genre from rock to  jazz to alternative…you name it. Bands like the Gin Blossoms, Jimmy Eat World, Meat Puppets and Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers all have roots in Tempe. Tempe is also known for showing off its funniest local comics, many of whom, like Frank Caliendo, go on to achieve national prominence.  It’s a sure bet that you’ll have no trouble finding live music and comedy in venues throughout Tempe.

Stroll through The District at Tempe Marketplace on Friday and Saturday evenings and you’ll hear the best local bands performing on the District Stage. Hear cool jazz, classical music and local singers and song writers at the Tempe Center for the Arts.  The Marquee brings some of the biggest names in music to Tempe.

If you’re a fan of musical theatre, Tempe fills the playbill with Broadway shows at ASU Gammage.   The 2018-19 Broadway Across America Series opens on October 2 with the hit musical WAITRESS.

The Tempe Center for the Arts features performing arts including music, dance and theatre throughout the year. Spend An Evening with Ken Burns, September 11. On September 22, The Annie Moses Band and Renee Rosnes Trio will perform. October highlights include Ensemble Mik Nawooj: A Hip Hop Orchestra, October 20 and Changüí Majadero performing Cuba’s rural country music, October 27.
