Your guide to events & festivities taking place the week of May 5
In Tempe, Cinco de Mayo is an opportunity to celebrate Mexican heritage and honor the cultural significance of the Battle of Puebla (aka El Día de la Batalla de Puebla, 1862) by gathering with good company to savor authentic cuisine and indulge in spirited sips.
This year, May 5 falls on a Tuesday. But our Cinco de Mayo guide details where to celebrate as early as Friday, May 1.

May 1 – 3, 2026: C.A.S.A. de Mayo Block Party
Each year, C.A.S.A. Tempe kicks the Cinco de Mayo festivities up a notch with one of this venue’s signature block parties. Featuring good music, cold drinks and an over-the-top production, C.A.S.A. de Mayo is a three-day Block Party fiesta that kicks off Friday at 9 p.m. and continues both Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entry is free; must be 21 or older.

May 1 – 5, 2026: Cinco de Mayo at Barrio Queen
Barrio Queen at Tempe Marketplace always turns up for Cinco de Mayo. This year’s festivities include five days of live entertainment, activations, DJs, giveaways, specials, festive bites, award-winning cocktails and more. Bonus: On Cinco de Mayo (5/5 only) tacos are buy one, get one free.

May 1 – 5, 2026: Spice Up Your Cinco at Blanco Cocina + Cantina
Visit Blanco Cocina + Cantina at NOVUS Place for the flavors of Cinco de Mayo. The celebration highlights spicy margaritas, shots, cheladas and Dos Equis all week long. On May 5, a live mariachi band will perform from 5 to 8 p.m.

May 2, 2026: Cinco de Beach Cruiser at Pedal Haus Brewery
Eat, Drink and celebrate Cinco de Mayo at the largest patio in Downtown Tempe. May 2, 2026: Cinco de Mayo Bar Crawl Tempe
Be a party of the Cinco De Mayo festivities by joining the Cinco de Mayo Bar Crawl. The bar crawl includes at select hotspots throughout Downtown Tempe for mouthwatering tacos and refreshing margaritas. Each stop promises a delicious experience that’ll will delight your tastebuds. May 2, 2026: “Carmen Lomas Garza: Picturing the Familiar” Opening Reception
Join ASU Art Museum in celebrating Mexican American art and culture with “the arrival of “Carmen Lomas Garza: Picturing the Familiar,” this Cinco de Mayo weekend.
Bringing fresh insight to her expansive career, this is the first major exhibition devoted to artist, activist and educator Carmen Lomas Garza (b. 1948) since 2001. It also situates her practice within a broader cultural landscape, featuring works by contemporaries who collaborated with or influenced her at pivotal moments.
The opening reception for this exhibit will take place from 6 to 8 p.m.; RSVP required.

May 5, 2026: Cinco de Mayo at Ghost Ranch
Cinco de Mayo at Ghost Ranch is a celebration featuring taco Tuesday specials all day, happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. and El Tesoro Tequila Tastings from 5 to 7 p.m.

May 5, 2026: Tempe de Mayo Patio Fiesta at Taco Chelo
Taco Chelo invites you to its first patio fiesta this Cinco de Mayo. Gennaro Garcia and chef Suny Santana will be grilling on the patio for this taco Tuesday. The event will also include all-day happy hour, outdoor cerveza bar, and DJ from 6 to 9 p.m.

Through Dec. 31, 2026: Ranfla Vida – Local Lowrider History Exhibit
Celebrate Ranfla Vida — which translates to “Lowrider Life” — at the Tempe History Museum this Cinco de Mayo. The Ranfla Vida exhibit highlights local histories and cultural narratives as they relate to Lowrider cars and people.
In the aftermath of World War II, Mexican American communities found a way to customize their vehicles by lowering them to the ground, giving birth to a new tradition. Today, lowrider cars are a multigenerational, multicultural, and a multimillion-dollar business that has transcended borders, peoples, and cultures.
