The impressive, large-scale works promote recycling through transforming simple objects into dynamic, natural forms. Stitzlein lives and works in Ohio, where she maintains a studio in a former National Grange Hall. Through her many efforts to promote sustainability, Stitzlein teaches art workshops at elementary schools, art camps and festivals. *Free with general admission.

The Tempe Center for the Arts (TCA) and Black Theatre Troupe present “Detroit ’67.” Written by Dominique Morisseau, “Detroit ’67” is inspired by American history. This powerful play takes place during an explosive moment in Detroit when Motown hits are breaking records and breaking down barriers. Siblings Chelle and her brother Lank are making ends meet by turning their basement into an after-hours joint. When a mysterious woman finds her way into their lives, tensions escalate both in their home and in their community—and they find themselves caught in the middle of the ’67 race riots. Set to a 1967 soundtrack, this important historical journey debuts in Arizona.

Hundreds of butterflies native to the Southwest are waiting to greet you at the Garden’s Spring Butterfly Exhibit. Learn more about the butterfly life cycle in the caterpillar nursery, and don’t miss butterflies emerging from their chrysalis. Guests can interact with the butterflies as they freely fly through the exhibit and they can also learn about their life cycles and how these amazing creatures serve as pollinators, as well as conservation efforts to protect them. *Entrance to the Spring Butterfly Exhibit is included with membership or paid Garden admission.
