This juried summer exhibition focuses on visual art as a communication tool for artists to speak their minds, share ideas, express feelings and seek understanding about the human experience. For these exhibiting artists, art is a shared conversation with viewers about topics like self-expression, mental health, equity, creativity, identity and more.
Family programming, community connections and immersive arts experiences feature strongly in Gallery at TCA summer exhibitions. During the summer of 2023, visitors can escape the heat by heading indoors for free programs including exhibition tours, “make & take” art stations and Saturday family workshops.
Selected Residency Artists are:
- Megan Driving Hawk, Gilbert
- Anh-Thuy Nguyen, Tucson
- Kaori Takamura, Tempe
About the Summer Artist Residency Program:
During the HEAR ME. SEE ME. exhibition, three artists-in-residence will make their summer art studio spaces inside the Gallery at TCA. Visitors can meet these artists and see artworks in progress throughout the 12 weeks of the program. As part of an annual juried program, selected artists-in-residence are paid a stipend to participate in community programs, professional development sessions and teach hands-on workshops. The selection process for the artists is highly competitive and past residency alumnae have gone on to produce large scale public artworks, speak and teach at prestigious institutions and participate in major exhibitions across the country.
