Event WebsiteBook and Lyrics by Howard Ashman, Music by Alan Menkin, Directed by Ron May
The characters are the same. The songs are the same. But the show won’t be. We have watched this long-time favorite on local stages for decades and accrued a whole rolodex of thoughts in the vein of, “…what would happen if we did a production Stray Cat style?” Welp. Time to find out!
Nov. 22 – Dec. 7, 2024: “Sweat” by Lynn Nottage, Directed by Chanel Bragg
Winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize, “Sweat” takes audiences to the industrial town of Reading, Pennsylvania, where a tight-knit group of friends navigate life on the factory floor and bond over drinks, secrets and laughter. But as layoffs and picket lines strain their trust, they become adversaries in a fierce struggle for survival. This powerful play offers a raw and insightful look into the fractured heart of working-class America.
Feb. 14 – March 1, 2025: “Fetal” by Trista Baldwin, Directed by E. E. Moe
“Fetal” is an electrifying new play inspired by the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. This powerful drama puts a personal face — four, in fact — on an issue that has been highly politicized. It follows the harrowing journey of four fictional women in a Texas clinic, representing countless real women whose choices have recently been stripped away. Raw and urgent, Fetal is a timely portrayal of the fight for reproductive rights.
