Tempe Center for the Arts presents a new local artist series, 48 LIVE. This series features a slate of musical, theatrical, dance and visual artists from around the 48th State.

48 LIVE is an eclectic event of performances and interactive activities, is an engaging multi-sensory experience that will surprise and captivate you. This event is perfect for all ages.

Summer Performances:

June 8 | JenziTaughtMe

JenziTaughtMe is a unique choreography showcase. Curated and choreographed by Jenzi Russell, it emphasizes amazing local dancers of different cultures, ethnicities, body types and genders and showcases their hard work and dedication. JenziTaughtMe is a verity of dance styles from Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Heels and more from all different genres of music. Each piece will highlight Jenzi’s choreography and creativity. Special guests include choreographers Eric and Shay and a performance from Pretty Precise Step team.

June 22 | Cisco and the Racecars

Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, Cisco & the Racecars is an award-winning bluegrass band featuring diverse vocals and instrumentation. Their energetic style and creative arrangements of traditional tunes create a memorable balance of old and new. Founded by two-time Arizona State Banjo Champion Francisco Briseno (banjo) in 2013, the band has traditional bluegrass instruments such as an upright bass, guitar, and mandolin and add a nice twist with the cello. Their music ranges from traditional bluegrass to newgrass to blues and old-time music.

July 20 | Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra

Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra proudly carries the musical and social torch that was first lit by the powerful duo of Fela Kuti and Tony Allen, original inventors of the Afrobeat sound. Led by funky heiress Camille Sledge, the 16-strong orchestra is comprised of the most ambitious and outrageous musicians in Phoenix today – making it the hottest super-group on the city scene!

Aug. 17 | Songwriters in the Round

Join us for an evening of live music with local Arizona songwriters Krystal Waters (The Waters), Matthew Thornton (Vinyl Station), and Ashley Creighton (Girl From The Moon). This special event will feature original songs, collaborative performances (with Sturgis Waters joining on guitar), and stories behind the music. Don’t miss out on this unique and intimate concert
