Eating is one of my favorite things to do.  Whether I’m home or out with friends, sometimes I get late night cravings. Most of the time, I’m not in the mood for a small snack. I want real food – a full meal.

There are many reasons why Tempe is great, one of which is the abundance of restaurants that stay open late. Next time 11 p.m. rolls around and you’re starving, it’s okay. You’re in luck. Here are some of my favorite places to satisfy those late-night hunger pangs.

Boulders on Broadway Bar and Grill
If you love food and craft beer, look no further than this Tempe gem. They have everything from specialty pizzas and calzones to tacos and burgers. All their burgers are a half pound of ground beef and made with a brioche bun. The Moose Drool is far and away my favorite. Their pizza is amazing and is definitely something you need to try. The Kaiser, Hard Day and Chuck Norris are also my go to choices. If you just want a drink, Boulders on Broadway has 30 beers on tap and 70 bottles of craft beer to choose from.

Casey Moore’s Oyster House
I love everything about Casey Moore’s. It’s one of the most famous Irish pubs in and around Arizona. It’s a great place with an inviting patio, tucked away in a cool neighborhood and it’s rumored to be haunted. True to its name, Casey Moore’s is known for their oysters, but there are lots of other delicious items on the menu like the crab cakes and fish ‘n’ chips.  The bar looks and feels like a true Irish pub and has a huge selection of draught beers, bottled beer, whiskeys and spirits.

Cornish Pasty Co.
Sometimes, my late night cravings require an international twist. When that happens, Cornish Pasty always does the trick. The pasties are hearty,  full of good flavors and very satisfying.  My favorite is the Bangers and Mash Pasty. which is made with homemade pork and sage sausage, red wine gravy, grilled onions and mashed potatoes. If I want the full experience of eating a traditional pasty, I get The Oggie. It’s made up of steak, potato, onion and rutabaga with a side of red wine gravy or ketchup. But there are so many more to taste, I’m sure you’ll find your own favorites.

Culinary Dropout at The Yard Tempe
One of the most popular restaurants in Downtown Tempe, Culinary Dropout at The Yard Tempe has everything you’ll want when those late night cravings hit. I’m a big fan of their appetizers – especially the Soft Pretzels and Provolone Fondue. It’s seriously the best. The House Potato Chips are also incredible. If you’re really hungry and need a little something that’ll fill you up more, the Fried Chicken, Grilled Steak Tacos and Pork Ribs are all must haves.

Four Peaks Brewing Company
Is there anything Four Peaks can’t do? Aside from making some of the greatest beers in the history, Four Peaks has an amazing food selection. The Blacked Salmon BLT Sandwich is built with  bacon, lettuce, tomato,  pepper jack and pesto mayo on a whole grain bread and is one of my favorites.  I also love the Popper Burger, which is the patty topped off with roasted jalapeno, fried onion straws, cream cheese, lettuce and tomato on a brioche bun. But really everything is delicious, especially combined with their Beer Batter Fries. So dang good!

Mr. Mesquite Taqueria 
For me, any time is taco time. So it’s reassuring to know that I can get my fill of tacos whenever the craving hits at Mr. Mesquite Taqueria at practically anytime. Why? Because Mr. Mesquite’s is open  everyday from 8 a.m.-3 a.m.! The menu is simple and fresh. You can choose between beef and chicken tacos or a combination of both. Add some beans and head to the salsa bar to top them off with red and green salsa, pickled onions, fresh pico de gallo, cabbage and limes. The tacos are definitely my favorite, but they also offer  burritos, quesadillas, bowls and salads. On Tuesdays, I can really get my fill because tacos are a super good deal at $2.
