New Ice in the Desert: Arizona Coyotes Skate into Tempe
There are a few bucket list items that just make sense when visiting Tempe, Arizona. Of course, you have to hike up “A” Mountain, Tempe’s very prominent landmark, and you can’t say you’ve been to Tempe without visiting Tempe Town Lake — the only desert oasis in the middle of the Phoenix Metro Area. One bucket list item that may seem peculiar, but yet a must try in Tempe, is watching Arizona’s very own NHL hockey team face off at the new ASU multipurpose facility, Mullett Arena.
With Arizona Coyotes now calling Tempe home, Tempe is quickly becoming a sports mecca in the Valley. The Arizona Coyotes are in great company as Tempe is also home to Arizona State University Athletics and Cactus League Spring Training. The Coyotes are also in close proximity to other Valley professional sports, including Arizona Cardinals football, Phoenix Suns basketball and Phoenix Rising soccer.
The Arizona Coyotes are set to play the next three seasons at the Mullett Arena — with an additional option for the 2025-2026 season. The team will play all 41 home games at the new facility throughout the 2022-2023 regular season, which concludes on Thursday, April 13, 2023, versus the Vancouver Canucks.
