It’s that time again! Family weekend at Arizona State University will be here before you know it! While the fun weekend of events is happening a little later than usual this year (November 8-10, 2019), it will be just as fun-filled as ever before.
As a sophomore this year at Arizona State, I am super excited to have my family back again to visit me at school! As an out of state kid, being able to have my parents come to visit is such a treat. And, I know my parents will be excited to not only see me, but to get some sun!
I get the chance to be a visitor in the city I live in when my family comes to visit me at ASU. With so many yummy restaurants, cool photo spots, hiking areas, and shopping around Tempe, me and my family will try our best to get to it all! In addition to exploring the Tempe and Phoenix area, ASU offers plenty of special events on campus to attend, too.
In addition to all that the city of Tempe has to offer, Arizona State provides plenty of fun activities for students and their families all across campus such as the iconic Spirit Hike up “A” Mountain or Playfest. Spirit Hike starts at the base of “A” Mountain at 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 9th near 5th St. and College Ave. Join alumni and current students and their families in making the hike up ASU’s iconic mountain! (Registration required)
Explore ASU’s art museum with plenty of creative activities during this year’s Playfest! All families are welcome to join and explore the current exhibitions and participate in art inspired festivities from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 9th.
There are plenty of campus-wide activities and events put on by the individual colleges in addition to Spirit Hike and Playfest. Check out the whole list for all of the fun! If your family wishes to participate in any of the ASU events, don’t forget to register!
Family weekend always falls on a home football game weekend, and my family (being from Texas) LOVES college football. On Saturday, November 9th this year, you’ll find me and my parents at the game cheering for the Sun Devils alongside my friends and their families as we take on USC! (Last year we even managed to meet ASU President Michael Crow at the game)! If you want to go to the football game, definitely register for a discount code for tickets. (Game time TBD)
Family weekend 2019 will be one for the books! Come out and explore what all Arizona State and Tempe have to offer and get some quality time with your favorite Sun Devil!
